DIGIBATT360Digital circular economy for batteries
An EU-compliant digital battery passport built on a decentralised data space, with AI state-of-health prognosis for reuse, repair, remanufacture and recycling. NeuroControls contributes cognitive sensing and returned-goods analysis, and develops the measurement system: an inline edge node that grades every weld of a battery module and writes the result into the module's passport.
e-LAS+Multimodal quality assurance for energy-storage production
A machine-learning based, multimodal inline inspection of laser weld seams in battery-cell production, workable even for small batch sizes, with predictive process adaptation and capture of operator experience. Results were demonstrated on a pilot plant.
EdgeAIEdge AI technologies for optimised performance embedded processing
A European project with 46 partners from 10 countries on AI at the edge. NeuroControls led the VCD4.3 demonstrator: an energy-autonomous sensor for freight wagons that grades wheel-flat and bearing faults on board, harvests its power from the vibration it monitors and reports through passive RFID.
iNGENIOUSNext-generation IoT solutions for the universal supply chain
A Horizon 2020 project on IoT for ports, transport and manufacturing logistics. NeuroControls contributed edge sensing to one of the project's use-case demonstrators.

e-WASVibro-acoustic quality assurance for resistance spot welding
A feasibility study led by NeuroControls on non-destructive quality monitoring of resistance spot welds on battery cells. We built a sensor integrated into the weld head and recorded the vibro-acoustic response at 64 kSPS. Damping of the signal after a successful weld was clearly measurable and scaled with weld current.
A vibro-acoustic lung monitor for remote diagnosis, developed by NeuroControls as a funded beneficiary of the INNO4COV-19 open call.

Smart-RNAEOSC COVID-19 co-creation
Neuromorphic tracking of virus RNA mutations: sequence alignment combined with clustering and neural networks, plus protein and phenotype analysis. Delivered with Technopolis Group Belgium; the code is open.
Infrared impulse thermography with neuromorphic pattern matching to find sub-surface defects in medical ultrasound probes, as a faster alternative to scanning acoustic microscopy.
